Show Bumpers on E4
Giff Gaffs sponsorship of entertainment on E4 required a city scape to be built on the synonymous “Glitch” graphics. Various sized block were statically arranged over the glitch to provide pathways for camera moves and spaces for the interactive graphics to sit. Each sponsorship trail is personalised as it allows viewers the chance to Tweet messages live before the shows
There are 6 films which contains different props and references to the different E4 shows it sponsors. The considered layout of the cityscape meant that the moves between the interactive graphics could also be different to create a truly unique sponsorship.
HOW WE DID IT
The first obstacle was “how do we film this?” DBLG had provided some footage of what they wanted to achieve, this consisted of the humble iPhone scanning over a table top of various props… it actually looked great. The footage was really helpful as concluded the table top / city needed to be larger to provide more distinctly different spaces for the interactive graphics to locate. A bigger set was not an issue however filming it would require a crane or motion control to cover the 3 meter x 3 meter area but this would be at the expense of the hand held style we all liked. The only logical solution was to then flip the set vertically, we then attached our props securely to the wall to give the impress you are looking down.
The graphics themselves were printed onto a translucent vinyl onto a white faced MDF, this meant it could be seamlessly joined to give the impression of a continuous print over the 3 meter area. Additional shapes of coloured translucent acrylic were suspended from above to increase the parallax effect.
