Elton John
Bennie And The Jets
THE DETAILS
We provided the set construction and set pieces, including the podium and triangular light-boxes that form the zoetrope dance floor in which Elton John’s fictional character “Bennie” auditions her dancers.
The set was designed in monochrome and shot in black & white at 3:4, resulting in a video true to the film formats that were used when the track was originally recorded.

HOW WE DID IT
The triangular light-boxes needed to angle down to be visible in top shots, as well as being strong enough to support the weight of the dancers as they performed. They therefore required some very carefully considered construction. We built them in-house using a combination of CNC components and hand-crafted techniques.
The lighting team used RGB video tape along the facing edge to give a feathered effect behind the matt frosted acrylic. The video tape was controlled through a desk to provide the different animation sequences.
